The Citizen Publishing Company Building has been an architectural landmark in Culver City since it opened in 1929. It was commissioned by Eugene Donovan, publisher of The Citizen newspaper, and designed by architect Orville Clark. In 1987 the building entered the National Register of Historic Places in recognition of its iconic facade with a two-story arched entryway combining Beaux Art and Art Deco elements. Inside, the historic ground-floor reception area leads upstairs to the original publisher’s offices. The remainder of the roughly 7,500 square foot building, more industrial in feel, encompasses the original pressroom and bindery.
